Attach a tag to the equipment, fill out a checklist and if everything is ok, insert the checklist into the tag to inform everyone that it's safe for use (alternatively you can show it has been quarantined until further notice). A duplicate copy of all inspections is produced as part of your audit/maintenance programme.
